Alright 3 Things have been annoying about NFS Carbon recently. 1) Can anyone find a way to get close enough to Mystery City without it disappearing? 2) Is Mystery City just a mere texture, or could it still be accessible? (Stupid question but who knows ?) 3) Why include Mystery City in Nfs World if it was mistakenly left over from Carbon???

1) Why do you want to get close to it? It's just a texture, nothing more 2) Of course not, it's just a texture. 3) [OPINION] It's not left there by mistake. It adds an extra piece of scenery to the landscape. Thus making the game feel more realistic.

Mystery City was originally intended to be in the game but because of the deadline, it was cut. If you look in some of the other threads you will see that Mystery City was complete (screenshot with the Scorpio Lancer), and in another one, incomplete. Plus, the city textures are also buried in the water as well and it's right next to a mountain side, and they're barely visible unless you use the OOL glitch.

I know it was supposed to be included, but as we know, the idea was later scrapped. BTW His question was: "Why include Mystery City in Nfs World if it was mistakenly left over from Carbon???" Why include it in NFS World? Okay... First of all, why include it in Carbon? I am 100% sure that it was not left there by mistake (the textures). No developer in his/her right mind would/could leave such a big texture in their app by mistake(!). I mean if it was only in the files but not in-game, then they left it there by mistake. But this is a f*cking huge texture we're talking about! IN-GAME! It is obviously there for a purpose. And then comes my opinion, which is: "It adds an extra piece of scenery to the landscape. Thus making the game feel more realistic."
For those who don't get what i'm talking about above, Mystery City was real. It existed in the earlier versions of the game. [That's a known fact] Later it was cut. But for some reason, some textures, containing the MC buildings, are in the final game [NOT THE CITY ITSELF, BUT SOME PHOTOS OF IT] And that's what i'm talking about. The "photos". They are there purely for aesthetic reasons.

There were a lot of pre-release content of Carbon that featured Lookout Point, so, Blackbox couldn't just delete the MC textures.

This "finished one MC" screen shot was edited. It's fake, not rendered. They are barely visible due redesign of the mountain ranges in World. Canyons have totally differents placements and shapes(West canyon is almost totally north from Fortuna, that's why MC is hard to see). They rather added it on purpose to World cuz it's impossible to do it by "mistake" when you remake whole mountain ranges, it just dont make sense.

This may sound stupid but what did they do with the actual Mystery City (the real one, with driveable roads and such)? Is it hidden somewhere so players can't find it ?(but thanks to the OOL glitch this could be possible) or is it just completely removed altogether.

Another full city is aditional 2gbs to a game. Even if they finished it, putting it in game would be a waste of space on dvd. They never actualy finished this, MC was rather concept for a map. They never started real works over it, full focus gone for final Palmont.(basis photos, trip for these, idea of crew related areas mentioned in interview with senior art director prove this)

There were a lot of pre-release content of Carbon that featured Lookout Point, so, Blackbox couldn't just delete the MC textures. Wait a second. Interview with the [former?] senior art director of EA
""Ironically," Neil adds, “ the idea of the canyon racing came late in the process but fit well with what we were already doing." So, if canyon racing was added later, then they could've removed the textures. But they didn't. I mean, Mystery city was cut -------> Palmont city got created --------> They had an idea about canyon racing, so they made it. OR, Mystery city was cut -------> They had an idea about canyon racing --------> Palmont city got created with canyonsOR, Mystery city was cut with canyons ----------> Palmont city got created with canyons So, unless it was option 3, they could've removed the MC textures

Ok this is my complete opinion about Mystery City. It was near completion because you could see the map in the demo, it's already been put into the Lookout Point Canyon route, and had a finished canyon route that appears in the final game. (Possibly the Lookout Point canyon without scenery). From MW2011's video about Mystery City, a lot of things from current Palmont was included. Considering the date it was released in 2006, beta screenshots appeared back in 2005. We can probably assume Mystery City was dropped somewhere in late 2005, and Palmont was under development in early 2006. The ign screenshots for Nfs Carbon in 2006 had alot of beta elements still, but it showed San Juan as a SEPERATE district and no screenshots of Mystery City. Anyway, Mystery City is a finished topic as MW said with his latest Q&A because everything was found, however is still is interesting to me.

Even though it is entirely possible that the top left hand corner of MC was reserved for canyon routes, but weren't they supposed to be around the city? And don't be bothered by MC not having canyons. It was an unfinished project.
That top left hand corner could've looked like an erected dick anything! I'm sure the developers wanted a huge driveable area there filled with hundreds of races, but hey, they didn't feel like it would have been good enough(or they were just lazy, OR, the game would have stepped over the 4.X GB max size).

But i must point out a few things. MC was not close to completion. I mean, just look at the map. A huge empty area in the upper left hand corner. Do you think that they would/could have released the game with a map looking like that? But of course, you should make up your own mind.

Sorry, I wanted to type more but I was at school and the bell rang. Anyways that upper left hand corner on the map resembles a huge mountain where probably most of the canyons would have been created if they didn't finish it. I can only assume how long it would take to make a canyon route.
