Hey, I suddenly faced a problem with my PS2 Slim, up coming the PS2 in new condition.I fired up Madden NFL 2005 with ma friends to get ready for this football season and the game saves everything right, except for the Franchise Mode and Tournament Mode.So far nothing helped and the memory card isn't damaged.I thought to fire up Madden NFL 06 and the problem is major big here, I can't save anything (not even a Profile) and it's the same error - it leaves a corrupt/damaged file on the Memory Card which I can delete. Both games are in brand new condition, taken care of and no scratches. I never removed the memory card during use.The Memory Card has 64 MB, more than enough to hold bunch of games, and I have only few saved on that one. This is the error for both games (taken from Madden 06):

have you tried to remove and put the memory card back in?
if yes, you should check the memory card slot. the problem could be there
also try the other slot.

I don't have a PS2, but if the save is failing because it thinks the memcard was removed, I think it would be a problem with the wires or something. May have to have a little peek inside.

I used to have this problem before. For example, I'll play Spongebob Squarepants the game, then when I load the game it says "there is no memory car in slot 1/2. Please insert them" even though I have it inserted. All I did is blow the slot of memory card and the slot as well because there might be some dust. I did that for a few times and it works even though it will stop working again in a few days. Try blowing your memory card and the slot of your PS2 for a few times. Just make sure that you don't have your saliva drops in your memory card. Blow gently and it might work If the process did not work then keep blowing

It has something to do with the game or system. It's just a save failure why remove the body of the PS2 and poke the system there? It will make the problem worse. Wires? No, there are only 3 wires in PS2. One is the adapter, one is the cables for display, audio, and mono sound and the last one is the controller. There is no wires that relates to the memory card. Just like I said, blowing it helps.

When I saw the "load error" or the "save error" message, I'll panic and remove the card and blow it. When I insert it and it works, I was like "I'm a genius!"

Double post: another solution. Even though you have it inserted, it might not inserted properly. What your gonna do is shake the card by moving upward and downward. But do it softly otherwise it might break.

The weird thing is it can save anything else except the franchise (season) mode and tournament mode in Madden 05 and in Madden 06 it can't save anything.I don't think the card is broken as it works and I don't think its out of space, there are like 6 games saved and 3 replays of Madden 05 - however, maybe I should buy a new MC before it breaks down...oh man this sucks so bad.

It's from a national electronics store so its not fake It's not from Sony itself ...there's about 62 MB left...never had problems til now. Yeah, tried Underground and its saves normally.

Weird, it saved the franchise mode for Madden05 and played til Week 3 in Pre-Season...saved all progress without problems.
Haven't tried Madden 06 yet.

Alright, the problem isn't solved...it works all good with Madden 2005, but just now we tried Madden 2004 and 2006 and both have the same problem that nothing can be saved except maybe the settings...
I guess I just get me a new memory card...

If yes, maybe he/she could borrow you a memory card so you can try it. you can also try to unscrew the ps2 and see if there's something wrong (I once had a problem with the laser/reader and I just uncscrewed it and screwed it down again without touching anything and it worked. you could try this too)

Try a different memory card to save Madden on and then you can narrow it down to a faulty memory card of a faulty PS2.

Alright, the problem's gone using a new and official Sony memory card, which also saves faster...tried a friends card awhile back (and worked) but always forgot to buy one
