Darius had a deal with the cops that the only one to getaway will be you, a sergeant made sure you take the gap.
Darius hired a guy to switch the bags, it wasn't Darius himself and what Nikki meant with that is Darius is the one who's in charge for the whole thing that happened after the race, he told the cops, he let someone switch the bags etc
Btw, Darius and the guy who knocked down Nikki look totally different (e.g. he is smaller than Darius and had a heard I think)...
Watch this, the guy next to Darius, that's him and then skip to 4.01 for the face after he switched bags.
