If you owned a PSP and a copy of Underground Rivals, then excellent. Need for Speed Underground Rivals (not to be confused with the latest Need for Speed Rivals!!) has always been a mystery to me. It has no story line. At all. Literally, you just jump in and play! But that's not what bothers me. What bothers me is the location of the game. What's the name of the city in Underground Rivals? Let's have a close look at the city itself: Just keep looking at the landscape etc.. Also, you can ignore that "EA WORK IN PROGRESS" thing. The city remains exactly the same as it was in the beta. Look at that! Lights shooting upwards! Interesting... Great (although blurry) view of the city buildings. There aren't many screenshots of the actual city in NFSUR at all. I found a lot, but weren't showcasing anything in the city. There is no map of the city either. This has to be the biggest mystery in NFS Theories history. No clues of the city name, no full map, no nothing!

Hmm... I SEY THIS IZ ZE MYZTRIE CEETY!!!!!!! LOL hell no but the weird thing is that (I THINK) this is the ONLY NFS City that doesn't have a map.. look at high stakes... THAT has a map!!!! but instead of focusing on the city we should focus on what the city's BASED OFF so that THEN we can start brainstorming ideas about the city map itself.. and BTW couldn't we just download some sorta program and go through the files of the game?? There might be something in ZE INTERWEBZ

Maybe it's somekind mix of OC and Bayview? We got atlantica like areas and casino district (Bayview)a-like places. There are also area like junkyard in OC.

In terms of landscape, I agree - the NFS UR city is sort of a blended version of OC and Bayview, as there are some obvious similarities. For example - the lights shooting up, the scrapyard-ish place, etc.
But in terms of roads, I absolutely disagree. For a guy who's played the game and got past 68% of Underground Mode, I can safely say that there are no similar roads to OC or Bayview (except for some maps).
If anyone has an UMD of this game, please check the box. Maybe there's a clue in there (or the manual)

Because in the article about coast city on nfs wikia there is an interesting thrivia that Coast city can be seen as raylighting from canyons in nfs carbon. It maybe hint that openworld and handheld era has some connection. I don't think so, but maybe.

We already explained it in the 5-1-0 thread, that the Handheld Era games take place in a completely different universe. If you're seriously gonna take info from a poorly made wikia, then I advise you just shut up and leave.

What a coincidence lol. I was thinking about playing this game again. I put so many hours into it. Anyway back to the topic; Maybe it has some connection to the other side of Bayview? This games based more off of UG2 than the first one (Obvious by the re-used soundtrack). If not it just seems as if they took elements from both UG games and made up this unknown city.
Something I've noticed though. One of the earlier tracks (I have absolutely no clue what it's called) there's a short cut through a tunnel (The wall can be smashed through on either side) which looks strikingly similar to the main menu from UG1. You know, the one with the never ending tunnel.

There is no city map, I think it's a combination of OC and Bayview.
