First off, this is my first post to this forum. I signed up literally 3 minutes before posting. Now, on to the pictures. I don't know if these images were posted here before, so if they were, please don't hold me as a candidate for a public execution. This is a picture that I found on a couple of Spanish speaking websites. It appears to compare the map of Bayview to the real life map of another city. Not only that, but this image has some pretty interesting details, such as the city's size, well, that is the size of the accessible part of Bayview. I don't know what city this is - if anyone can tell me, that would be great. So, it might be my assumption that the geographical details in this actual city may match those in Bayview. Here is the in-game map of Bayview. Compare it to the image above: This is a second picture I found on Google Images. It appears to be a "satellite" image of Bayview. By that I mean, the actual aerial view of the city, taken in-game. I've been looking for a program that would at least open up the map of NFSU2 so I can freely view it and any other details. Click the image to view it full size and then zoom in to get the best view of it. If necessary, you can also zoom in using your browser's zoom function do get an even deeper level of zoom. Now for my idea of the lights visible from certain points of the city.I've also been viewing some other threads on NFS Theories prior to actually joining and I noticed that lights shining into the sky can be seen from various points of Bayview may be other cities in the NFS series. Perhaps, if Electronic Arts and whoever else made the game(s) was actually making the lights in the game city to tie into other Need for Speed games, maybe, they would've named them? They must've in order to tell them apart. (I hope you know what I'm talking about) If they named them, perhaps the names are still hidden in the game's code or files. I've gone looking through the NFSU2 files and I couldn't figure out what files were the files that contained the game's map. Once I do, I can try and figure out what program I could use to open them. And, if all goes well, we may be able to see the map of Bayview in great detail, more detail than we could ever see by using trainers in the game...

Would anyone happen to know what files in the game's folder are the map files? I'm really interested in opening it up and seeing what might be inside.

I heard of Need for Speed Underground 2 using a "Ghost City" (Outlined Here by I am the most wanted) for some races. It uses an alternative map for certain races, such as quite a few URL races. I opened a few in NFS TexEd to see what would happen and this is what I found: Notice how Coal Harbor looks almost vastly different from the map that is accessible through regular free roaming. Also, the airport runway isn't visible in the game's map unless you're doing a URL race. These are also maps you can only see during the briefing before a race, you know, where you've driven up to the location of the race marker and you're reading the feed from another racer? Anyways, I think that this is the alternate map, in other words, the "Ghost City". To view these maps in TexEd, open up NFSU2's installation folder, go to the TRACKS folder and open any one of the .bin files. When you do, you'll see this: In the bottom section, click the selection area that has the categories "ID", "Name", "Width", "Heigth" (Should be height) and "MipMaps" and you should see this: Now, with that bit there selected, click View and then Alpha Channel and you'll get this: Note that you cannot click and drag across the map as it is a fixed image. I believe we are close to revealing secrets such as the "city lights" in the distance (which may be other NFS cities) and maybe even getting a close look at Bayview to reveal such locations of URL races and drift races.I think Need for Speed may be like Grand Theft Auto games (in the GTA III Era) where certain locations accessible during missions being hidden in an "Alternate Universe" or at least under the normal map.

WAIT A SECOND! You forgot to say that the URL races in the race tracks are actually mixed up in the city.

So nfs texed supports other nfs games too. Good, I'll check that out!
ALRIGHT, HERE I COME!
So as far as we know, there's another city part to the east of city core. Look at the real map. To the southeast of the park, or the north of the career mode garage.
THAT is the missing puzzle part we need here gentlement. We can see 3d buildings from there.
Can anyone link me to this city? Google maps will give us lots of info it bayview is based off of this!

I feel like it was the Need for Speed Wiki but I can't be sure. I'll go look for it.

So it seems that the city's buildings and districts are based off of Los Angeles, or at least Beverly Hills (As seen here, search the page for Beverly Hills by hitting Ctrl+F on Windows or Mac+F on Mac). But the city's geography is based off another city. I still haven't been able to find that. As we saw in the picture in my first post Bayview's geographical map is based heavily on another real life city.

Oh, I also realized that the airport in the comparison map (the one where the Bayview streets and roads were applied to a real life satellite view) the airport is the one that was in the beta version of Need for Speed Underground 2. I think someone already said that.
