Well, I saw something interesting. In a part of the GameBoy version of NFS Carbon, you can race against EastSiderz. That's kinda strange, why would they be there?

You can get their vinyl in Underground Rivals on the PSP. But they never appear at all in the game.

Well, here's a fact. The city in the game is based on Rockport.

I wonder why Eddie, Kurt, Chad and Todd aren't there.

But the city is called Coast City :/ Is it meant to be Rockport? The layout seems to be roughly the same, maybe it's mirrored, I'm not sure. The fire department has the letters RPFD if I recall correctly. I played the PSP version. I guess the Eastsiders just expanded to take over territories in another city after Underground (or the game devs just liked the name and logo and wanted to feature it again). Edit: Wait a second... the handheld games are in a different universe? ;o Oops

Handheld versions are unrelated to the major releases and they weren't developed by Black Box but ea studios that develope games for such devices.
The city's road system is based on Rockport's road system for whatever reason, however it's not Rockport...probably much easier amd quicker to use a map that was used for the handheld version before already than sizing down Palmont or create a all-new map.
The Eastsiderz can be any crew, its a name not a brand restricted to Underground, it simply states that the crew lives on the east side of the city.

Well yeah but they do have the same logo in Own the City as they do in Underground I know they are made by different companies but I'm not sure if they contradict each other enough to be in different universes. Is there any official confirmation about the universes thing? Cause otherwise I assume it's all the same. EDIT: Actually wikipedia says Own the City was made by Blackbox too. And the files in the game's cd seem to be similar to the PC ones of those games.

It's definitely a 'different' universe, it can be just an easter egg at best (the logo, the crew members have different names I bet) and thinkin to much about this is wasting time...I mean look the road layout which is from NFS Most Wanted's Rockport City. They most likely just reused things from previous games cause a city that has exaclty the same road layout is soooooo unrealistic, I think even Undercover's Tri-City Bay handheld version is based on Rockport and has a different name I read somewhere.
Afterall, its just a game.

xD I didn't know Undercover had yet the same city again, that's just lazy of them ugh. Yeah the crew members all have different names (no Eddie or the rest of the gang if I remember correctly). The city definitely doesn't make sense to be "real" the way it's shown since it looks too much like Rockport but maybe it's not necessarily a different universe, and it's still meant to be a different city that coexists with the rest. I know it's just a game but I don't think it's a waste of time I mean this forum is for discussing this stuff right? I mean I know it's not really relevant because the "main" games don't reference Own the City but since you have this subforum for the handheld games and stuff...
