Need for Speed will be taking a break for 2014 for the first time since the release of Need for Speed II back in 1997, EA has announced. Newly appointed Need for Speed custodian Ghost Games will be sinking its time into the next game, but it won't surface until 2015.

"We're delivering a high-quality experience for Need for Speed players next year," EA CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed during a financial call earlier today.

"We are already deep in development on our next game and want to make this promise to you: we will listen to you. We’re going to give you the game you’ve been asking for. It will be the game you deserve, but to do that will take us some time," Ghost Games' Executive Producer and GM Marcus Nilsson writes on the game's official site.

"We’ve made the decision to not release a Need for Speed in 2014, so we can work towards a highly innovative Need for Speed in 2015. An experience built on a foundation we know you’ll greatly look forward to."

The developer will be looking for input and feedback from the community to help shape the next Need for Speed game, due to launch in 2015. Vroom.

I'm too old to have hope. I bet the next NFS title will actually be another movie without features and marketed as a game lmao

But meh, still wrote this on NFS Official FB Page

If you’re saying you’ll give people what you want, you’ll give them either Underground 3 or Carbon 2. That is why I would think a lot before claiming to give people what they want.

Anyways, here's a list of what it SHOULDN'T BE in my opinion:

1. A NFS which is not played by its own devs.

2. A NFS with high system requirements (see anything past World).

3. A free2play NFS (see World).

4. An arcade-like NFS (see anything before Underground and anything past World).

5. A movie-like NFS which lacks main features (see The Run).

6. A sim NFS (see SHIFT series).

7. A NFS which connects classic NFS cities in a WRONG way (see World).

8. A NFS where we can rice supercars (see World).

9. A NFS which is focusing on a huge car list (see World).

10. An unfinished-like NFS which is going to get tons of DLCs.

Seeing that the devs still consider making Underground 3, my grim prediction is that they're going to cause more disappointment and rage than ever in 2015 by releasing Underground 3 on Frostbite engine. A good portion of the Underground fans will rage because it won't run on their PCs and/or won't meet their expectations features wise while ppl who don't like Underground series will obviously be disappointed.

Anyway, even tho i didn't really like the UG2 (UG1 ROCKS) and i don't care about tuning that much, but i will still be happy if the game will be UG3.

1. Actually the first NFS games are with exotic cars and cop cars (1994-2002, 2010). And those games are awesome.
2. If the game doesn't force me to rice cars like other Undergrounds...

If it be the NFSU3 (that for sure will be focused on Tuning), it MUST HAVE at least a Cop pursuit system (like NFSC or like NFSHP 2010 and any extra challenge that allow us to drive Cop and Traffic cars. Also, would be good the game have a good storyline (with some cutscene like the NFSTR), variety of cars (simple cars like the Mazdaspeed 3 to cars like Pagani Zonda).

They want innovation? So, why not a system that allow us to create our own race tracks? I always wanted to create my own track.
Hmm, in addition, why not the possibility to us add our own music in game? It's simple and awesome.
