look at this beta or demo gameplay of NFSUG1
The main menu of UG1 looks different, there are less colorful lights on the buildings and there's a train that appears in the drag race. I'll try to find more videos of beta UG1 gameplay

Cant watch the video right now, but there's a train that crosses the road in the final too at 14th & Vine Construction, the normal has the train standing.

Sounds are different aand crowds have normal voice line (dialogs) before start. Bus is red instead of yellow.Main menu and garage are totally didifferent. And separate(not a tunnel for both, main menu looks like eddies pre dual cutscene passin of traffic with bluredout details, and garage is much like Pro Street, car stand on piece of asphalt sourrounded by this blurry image. Smaller differences are: -yellow barrier arrows -lack of side roads "arrows"(where traffics drive out and in) so it looks like roamable there, but it wasnt probably not. -Shortcuts are not shhown on the map

Yeah I said that cause he said there's a train, now after watching the video its the same track (14th & Vine Construction) and the same train...
Yeah, the early demo has no actual city map, just the track course like previous NFS, this is why I said in a different thread that I believe the city map was drawn after they made the tracks to fit the driveable courses, it would explain why some alleys on the map don't exist when driving the tracks, tho, they also could have had the map already, but didn't pay attention to all alleys.
The traffic lights are green, in final its yellow.

If you look closely on that map it shows all the roads that were completed at the time, and they changed alot of things from the time the beta was released and the alpha was released so my guess is they were originally planning to have more time to work on the roads and the final map is how it should've looked by the time they were done, but they already had the beta out and they didn't want to keep people waiting a long time is all.

Nah, what I see is the roads on the map are exaclty only the roads you are also able to drive on in the final, there are no unacccessable estates or roads on that map, there are only a few short dead end roads...I don't think there planned more roads, there's nothing that tells you they did...for the final map they just added estates and bunch of roads for the maps visual design only to have better look of a city on the road map...
Did I see the Highway 1 lanes then they select Market Street, weird there should be the park to the airport
And notice the N + arrow sign, so the PS2 version is right, Chinatown is south, Atlantic and Downtown are North.

one thing that i noticed on the vid on the first post. "Huge Environments". yea i know UG didnt say it was gonna have free roam and all that anywhere in the demo, but were these tracks considered "Huge Environments" back in the day? i mean look at MW2005. THAT'S a huge environment. just curiosity . also we're like NFS Scientists or something. we dig deeper into the unknown... yea that sounds extrememly nerdy... nvm then

Hang on.. I'm sure I've seen the main menu from the first vid... Of course!!! It appeared in the Arcade version of Underground!
Off-topic: The train in that beta drag race is so unfair... How are you meant to dodge it?!
