People have never fully agreed on the best Need For Speed. Instead, people just yell at each other over and over and over again saying "NO THIS ONE'S BEST" "NU-UH THIS ONE'S BEST" "NO THIS ONE'S BEST"
So this page is dedicated to stop this useless (and annoying) yelling: we are going to determine what NFS was really the best.
To do so, we are going to use a scoring system (yes it's chumpy but it works). This will prevent over-yelling and such. Please try and rate an NFS game you are neutral towards, or rate multiple games at once.
Here's how the system works: -The whole thing is divided into these categories: -Gameplay (Online and offline, 20 points) -Content (both career and out-of career, THIS INCLUDES CUSTOMIZATION, 15 points) -Attention to detail (ATD) (This includes bugs, glitches, incompleteness, and such, 10 points) -Other (Graphics, controls, etc., 5 points)
This will round up to a total of 50 points, and whatever game has the highest average score wins. The categories can be used to determine which is the best in each category.
Immediate candidates: Underground Underground 2 Most wanted 05' Carbon Prostreet HP 2010 Rivals
Get ratin'!
*AI is split between gameplay and content.

No point, since it's either going to be Shitterground 2 or Carbon. I wont even try to vote.

This is a good for a big wall of text determining all of those games. However my points could clearly determine what I got from those games...

NFS Underground 2: Gameplay- 15/20: The gameplay was fun, but got repetitive and could be a bit slow at times. Content- 10/15 There was a sizable amount of content, but a lot of it was a bit irrelevant (Hydraulics on tuners?, xilon bumpers, etc.). And the map wasn't that fun either. Attention to Detail- 8.5/10 This game had good attention to detail for the most part, but when it crashed (it can frequenly) or you couldn't click on the 'continue' button, it got freaking annoying. Otherwise, it was of high quality. Other- 5/5 The graphics were good (for its time), and there were no quirks with the controls or anything else.
OVERALL: 38.5/50

Prostreet! Gameplay : 13/20 Really fast paced and fun, especially on Speed Challenges in the desert! It had a long story and it introduced a new character, and a new era of NFS (aka Pro racing Era.. as in Shift.. ) Content : 15/15 There's no arguing there. Best customization in a NFS game ever and the most variety in modes. UG1-Carbon have no chance against this game's customization and variety. MW2005 especially. Attention to detail : 4.5/10 The game had quite a bit of glitches such as some cars looking extremely low poly and bad vinyl/ body customization (Remember the R8??? there's a thread about it here too) Other : 4/5 This game had awesome graphics for its time and the crashing system was revolutionary and an awful lot of games took right off it and slightly upgraded. The controls were made for your hand but that depends.. because the Wii is atotally different story... if you're not using a Wheel :/) Final Veredict : 36.5/50 Now ppl are gonna start saying im an absolute retard but these are FACTS. Prostreet was the most groundbreaking NFS so far (SO FAR!). Prostreet IS NOT one of my favorite NFS's. in fact is one of my least favourite but i can face the truth. I could care less if this game is better than Carbon or MW2005. if i enjoy a damn game then i like it and i will play it. i mean the main reason i hate prostreet is the desert speed challenges. they're too damn hard even on "Casual" Difficulty.

NFS Most Wanted:
Gameplay: 18/20.
The story was amazing, almost like a movie. The cop chases get intense after awhile although it takes a long time to get to the higher heats. Everything else was great.
Content: 13.5/15.
I think although some elements like individual bumpers, taillights, headlights, and multi-layered vinyls have been removed, this game actually had the highest quality of visual customization. I don't like the fact that there's no dyno to accurately tune your cars, and I don't really like the vinyl limitations either, but overall the tuning is great. The car selection isn't bad, it's unique, but it lacks iconic cars like the Skyline, AE86, and older muscles like the old Shelby GT500, Dodge Charger, etc. like in Carbon. And another problem is that there are cars that you can't access without using a trainer, and this also happened in Carbon and Pro Street. The physics were more realistic than Underground and Carbon, but the top speeds were still pretty "out there". I felt that the map wasn't as good as Bayview in NFSU2 but it did have more jumps and entertaining things like pursuit breakers and stadiums to screw around in. The downtown of Rockport is pretty small compared to Bayview and its scenery is kinda bland compared, plus the freeway isn't very realistic compared to Bayview, it's alot more dead and calm and it isn't as wide or as long. Anyways, the races and race types are really good and there's lots of variety in the types too. I like how in career mode, cops can intervene in the races, but they're not as aggressive as the ones that interrupt races in Carbon, that should've never been taken out as a feature in NFSU and U2 IMO. I think my favorite thing about the races and whatnot in MW are the challenge series and the randomized races, but randomized races don't have many cars/tracks to choose from as you move through career mode. Once you're around blacklist #9 in career mode though, the possibilities in random races are pretty endless. Other features? Reward cards are alright, AND THE SOUNDTRACK IS THE BEST.
ATD: 6/10.
Well, not much I can say here, there were afew glitches and sections of the city that were originally supposed to exist but didn't ( Turnpike, airport, massive highway above Rosewood, extra stadium, etc. ) but other than that it's alright in this aspect.
Other: 5/5.
The graphics are really good, even better than ProStreet despite its damage system IMO. Just look at it on the Xbox 360 or the PS3, especially the ocean in Camden and how the shadows and reflections change with the sky. That's phenomenal IMO.
Final score: 42.5/50.

Need For Speed Most Wanted (05): -Gameplay- 10/20: The gameplay in this was boring compared to other games in the same era. It was fun, but it was FREAKIN' REPETITIVE, and that was only by the time you were on blacklist member 13. Doing that for 12 more guys? There are definite flaws here. Also the challenge series wasn't that great, it was just toolbooth pursuit for 34 TIIIIMMEESS!!! -Content- 14/15: This game introduced pursuits, had a decent story, a good car selection, and one of my favorite maps. Overall, very rich content. -Attention to Detail- 7/10: There was a lot of attention to detail, but it was a bit minimum, as in they didn't go the extra mile. -Other- 5/5: Good graphics, good controls, yep. NOTE: this should be an easy five points for most of the games

This game re-introduced pursuits... Fixed. Oops! I haven't played more than 5 minutes of anything before UG2, so my knowledge of older NFS games is blank.

It is not considered a REAL NFS gsme mate. Interesting idea to rate the games. But one issue in this idea: you can say that one of them is the best because "x" and the other one is the best because "y". Every game is the best in it's way in my opinion.
