I think NOS was supposed to be in canyon duels because if you notice when you challenge Wolf (TFK), when he says "Come on!" you can see something like NOS coming out of his exhausts. So my theory is that NOS was supposed to be in canyon duels. (I'll post a video when I use the PC today)

He used NOS for instant speed to start the duel immediately (probably hoping you would not catchup with him). With other opponents, you drive with them before the canyon duel.

I think this was simply the exhaust back-fire when you accelerate (and when shifting) which is nothing unknown at (stock and custom) sports cars and Muscle Cars, it doesn't have to be NOS - if I'm right this is caused by an blower when it sucks fresh air and blows out the dirty air...you see this a million times during a NASCAR race (example)
I think this effect is also in Underground 2, just take a car and hit the throttle and drop it again, repaat it for more.

If it was exhaust backfire then why did the taillight have light coming out?

What i think: What if they thought about adding nos, then removed it because it would be useless, if you use nos in canyon duels, you would probably just fall right off the canyon.

NOS in canyon duels would make them too easy because you could just pass the boss on the long downhill straight bits. It is the same case with no speedbreaker in canyon duels; having it would make them way too easy with the slow-mo drift turns. It is all a matter of the intended difficulty. I think we should lock this thread.

Ha. Adding NOS in Canyon duels is silly. Come on, we know a cheat code that will give us infinite NOS right? If the devs applied that then cheaters would beat the 3 bosses (also includes Darius) in less than 10 seconds.
Rules of mountain/canyon race: too much speed would lose control in handling. But how about in canyon drifting? Why NOS can be used? You need speed in order to drift properly in that game. In canyon duel mode, handling is grip so adding NOS is a bad idea because of...you know...grip handling. In canyon drift mode, handling is loose so NOS is required in order to drift properly.

As far as I know where's a video about the canyon battles, they explain they turn off all advantages off to secure a skill battle in short words...I think a loading screen tells the same.
NOS would make it too easy and too hard, its easier for you to overtake a slower driver and on the other hand once you slow down and scratch the wall the other one will hit the nitrous and increase distance and you won't have a chance to keep up, especially when you're the hunter.
Speedbreaker would keep players from falling off the cliffs, taking tight turns easier at high speeds.
I don't think NOS was supposed to be in those battles once it developed.

Who knows? also, the thread isn't ridiculous, so there's no point in locking this thread. If the thread is going too much off-topic, yes, then it can be locked. So that's a bad idea, mister.
