I was hex editing NFS Carbon and I found some interesting things
SCORPIONS..BOSS_SCORPIONS_WINGMAN..BOSS_SCORPIONS.
Yes, this further proves that the Scorpions were supposed to have a boss. But I found similar entries like this for other minor crews. This could mean that minor crews were supposed to have bosses too.
BOSS.Characters/major_crew_wolf/griffin.Griffin.characters.
Griffin? Who is griffin? Beta crew member?
PHANTOMS....BOSS_PHANTOMS
This seems to be a scrapped crew. I haven't found much on this but I'm guessing they were supposed to be a minor crew
crew_angela/boss...crews/major_crew - Beta name for Angie?
WINGMAN.BOSS_787 - 787 could be a scrapped or renamed crew
highway.drag.santafe - drags were planned for the game. But what is Santafe doing there?
One other thing is that there are a lot of strings for things in the demo in the final exe
I will update this post when I find more stuff through hex editing. If you guys want to help then download HxD or Cheat Engine. Cheat Engine is better since it can view memory in real time but its more complicated then HxD.

Wow... Just about nfst is about to get shut down, loads of theories start coming in. Anyway Griffin might be Wolf's secondary wingman which is only seen in the cutscene where he's introduced and everything. Each major crew boss had a secondary crew member in their intro cutscene and they are only seen there. I made a thread showing each secondary crew member a long time ago. Angela was most likely Angie's beta name since Angie is just another way of saying Angela. And i just gave this a little thought and don't bash on this one. Phantoms could have been a beta crew name for the black hearts. Why? Simple. Their beta logo was a skull in a black background. The file name said black hearts but it might have just been that they renamed the crew and then scrapped that logo entirely. The Santa Fe drag for me, implies that this might have been a test track in one of the very early betas. It might have been the only drivable area of the beta city but that's unlikely. The Santa Fe name IMO is also implying that carbon was initially supposed to be set in a real life city, since we all know the game was supposed to be way different this actually makes sense. It would also be the first NFS to have a real life city, which might have received some fan backlash for lack of originality. Or it might just have been a code name for another beta city.

But Santa Fe doesn't have to be for the actual Santa Fe as NFS uses to have names and buildings inspired by real life idols...Palmont seems to be located in the southern region of California so mexican names are nothing unusual.
It wasn't SUPPOSED to be different, just the very first idea was different as Palmont would been a more desert like environment (according to a dev interview which I don't remember if it had a source) but during development they realized it wouldnt work out. wasn't there a Santa Fe road sign in carbon, or ma I just confusing it Maybe Griffin is Wolf's last name?

santafe is codename for san juan. Neil says in an interview that SJ was heavily based on santa fe. (sidenote, some pancity textures were named santefe, we could've guessed where SJ is earlier)

I know about the names being inspired by real life things but its a possibility. And no there wasnt a Santa Fe road in carbon. It could in fact be his last name, since it would be a nice fit.

The highway drag could have been where the connection between San Juan and Silverton is. In Eternity Pass, you can see the Pan City texture representing San Juan with a highway leading out of it, maybe that was a planned road. Thoughts?

Plus, it's pretty smart since a lot of other ppl here completely forgot about that road

Could do, but why do devs put textures for a scrapped idea? They might not have had enough time to do the rest, so they just left the textures in the files.
