Fill me in, what's the point of not having this game? I bet it would've been way better than NFS World.
Let's theorize about the game here, and how it may have looked like

I've only watched videos of it and it looks a lot like a real life racing simulator with old cars and laggy gameplay. + It wasn't very popular in the first place.

I saw many videos from MCO and added Supra and Esclipse short time before shutdown of servers(about 2 months)

If it was alive now, it'd be crappy since it's from 1999.

If it was alive now, it'd be crappy since it's from 1999. I think that what happend with World now should also happen to MCO but they killed this before it transformed... I played MCO, and while EA shut it down, this game was made with love by EA, it was just the decision of the CEO from back then to focuse on Sims and Ultima cause he saw more value there than in racing games. The golden age of the americana car culture If you ever dreamed about a racing game which was dedicated to a very famous, historical car culture, MCO was it - there's no racing game that ever came close the e.g. customizing possibilities of MCO - Underground is a babies playground compared to MCO. The game's design was shining in the 50's and 60's style with four music stations (a fifth for users custom tracks, disc or importing, own playlist of soudntrack etc) playing about 24 different tracks, each station was specifcated for a genre, you had Surf, Funk, Classic Rock and Oldies - it also featured hundreds of interactive traffic reports, song comments and other talk by the DJ's.You could adjust the volume and station with the tuner button on the radio which had a 50's car radio style, the station tuner had real sound effects when turning the button, you also could switch the station by clickin on the button 1-5. You could customize your persona choosing from over 30 base models e.g. cheerleader, punker rocker, rebel, fighter, gi joe, townie, jock, jockette etc and change the colors of clothes, skin, hair and add accessoires. About the cars, it had over 60 american classics (and three trucks) from the 30's to 70's.Each car could be build up form ground up, and I really mean ground up - you had to know cars mechanics and measurements and units to be able to make a mean machine, you had over 2,000 authentic and licensed styling and performance parts (it was over 5,000 later) which used real statistics with units and parts were different in model, size, material, weight etc and they could get worn and lose their quality. It had the integrated Dyno2000 by MotionSoftware for all this to calculate power:weight ratio etc... I tell you there's no game that ever allowed you to build a car like in real life, only MCO allowed, people who played Underground and up would been lost in this game, people who built up cars like hot rods and muscle at home in real life had the knowledge to work here. Just like anything else in this game, Motor City was taking you back to the 50's, the race tracks so, you got circuit racing, street racing and drag racing, and some modes like time trial (open and sponsored), team trials and turf wars. This game featured a dynamic (like in real life) economy system, prices on cars and parts depended on supply and demand, paychecks...then you auction too. I could tell huge story about but this all is a short version...for much more information you cna check out this link (I wrote the article, and there are links to pages going into detail of the  specific thing, be aware I had to write in british english due to the forums rules lol) nfs.wikia.com/wiki/Motor_City_OnlineWrong, tho it depeneded on your internet connection, it was the first online racing game of the world and fast internet wasn't around in 2000-2003 in everyone's hood. Why would it be crappy? And it's from 2001 (tho, the original concept Need for Speed Motor City was developed 1999 and should release 2000, but due to the milestone target EA was re-developing the game from a SP (Offline with normal MP) focused to an online only game, had very detailed and advanced graphics for its time, it was ahead its time. I think that i meant rather 'would' not 'should' I got hyped over this game long time ago when i found out about it, but it was dead already. However as i can see we can play latest version of it(with Supra) and do some online cuz server files and game is ready for download from GTRCars.

Yeah...there's something to know (sorry for the long text, but I was really pissed about what this guy did, you'll hear later)
Actually, GTRCars isn't the original source, more likely the owner was a thief.
In an update during beta 2 EA accidently patched the debug files to the game, fixed it with an emergency update afterall. However, the files remained here and there found on a old hard drive and a former MCO player knew how to use these in 2007, however, he never wanted to make it public and be in charge if EA strikes. In 2010, these files were given to one trustful former MCO who shared this with only trustful players, I was one of a very few and one of the first who got into this secret.Since then, we tried everything to advance the debug, the first update after two weeks was the interface for pause menus and a nofront launcher, also the launcher isn't required to play, it just made it easier to customize the data from the nofront.ini
The time moving, some of the former mco community players created a new website where we developed more things for this debug behind closed doors, we also got more and more files from anonymous hands and used our backups from the past.I was the first who made all the unreleased tracks working, but also figured out how to run the segments (not just the entire track) and note I don't have any pc knowledge, tho, I try a lot lol...I was even able to recreate an older version of a track they had in NFS MC.
We created new parts, cars and made it possible run the game with the official updates, which doesn't work with the stock debug/data bank. The 'Motor City Online Update' on gtrcars is a private backup of the sunset files (nearly all updates) of a former player, which is on gtr without his permission...
After 1-2 years RacingFreak found our forum and secretly downloaded our files (it was an early stage, but he got some files) and shared them on serveral websites, we banned him after I randomly found the article on nd4spdworld...after awhile he came back with a new user name and one day in a chat, I randomly checked out the google maps localizing feature on the forum and suddenly saw who this guy is, the admin was in the chat so he banned him straight...after this RF flagged our forum LOL...we opened a new one afterall.
Since then we made a insane progress on CarBuilders, Launchers, tracks etc, what you see on GTRCars is maybe 5% of what we have.

Hm, its not that easy...since the mentioned situation we closed any doors and ask for registration which will be discussed later to be approved or not, basically people we don't know or trust won't get in... nothing against you , just sayin its hard to get in...I think you can't find it via google lol we are in a very improved success situation in the debug process for years now. I'll throw in your request in the forum and pm you afterall.

Thanks hehe I might post some pictures of the GUI, so you guys get a better look on this instead of just text. Some will be from beta stages or early months after release, means few or some menu elements were different later, but it remained the same for the most after release. Public Notice: This article may change anytime in addition of further information, media and other sources. This article features a large amount of images.
Coming Up: Auctions Car Dealers Parts Catalog Car Classes OtherHome Screen (Old) The Home Screen allowed the quick navigation to any section of the game selecting from the table, it also showed detailed information about your statistics and overall location (of selected server e.g. population, average salary, GNP...) statistics. You also had information about your Rank (in this picture its Amateur) and stats about your vehicle. In the top right is a live news ticker which provides latest news, traffic reports (e.g. race activity/population in each racing mode), important notices and event announements or reminders. Top Bar available in any menu allowed the player a quick navigation to the other sections of the game by clicking on one it opened a drop down list of categories (sections) you could go to.On the right side you'll see a mail icon -> messaging other player/reading messages # MC icon -> don't remember the function of this one # Arrows -> these open the Trade window, the players could trade with players they selected from either the chat or from the trade window.Players could trade cars, parts but also give away cars, parts and cash - for safety a trade needed the acception of both players. Left Section provided the Motor City time, your Persona (which was animated and did serveral things depending on character/model, e.g. cheerleader would and cheer and dance etc).Below you could view your profile and edit information about your profile, edit the persona, change License Plate text and view all kind of other stats, loading/watching replays. You could see quick info about your current situation e.g. insurance risk, level, rank, cash, the condition of your car and see your active car.The bottom displayed the radio, offering 4 stations and a 5th user custom station which could be filled with a custom MCO soundtrack playlist, own imported music or Audio CD.On the right you had the chat window which could be extended (pulled) upwards dynamically, you could also select another Chat Channel. In further updates you could enter the HUB VIEW which is the alternate screen for the active screens, the general hangout was Roxie's Diner, it displayed up to four top ranked drivers of the chat channel and had an animated waitress with a burger and food skating around, later the home screen background was replaced with a different screenshot and the table was reduced to a Favorites list section the player could customize. Create Your Persona Here you could create and customize your character chossing from over 30 base models and change serveral things. The Community Center The Community Center allowed the navigation to latest news, tech reports and other interesting and important information around Motor City, like Competitions, Top Dogs of the Week... The Racing Center The Racing Center is the main screen for the sections Street Racing, Circuit Racing, Drag Racing, Open Trials and Sponsored Trials from where the Players could navigate to open races, but also could create private lobbies. The Garage, Detail Shop and Workshop The garage gave information about your car, you could also view your ride and navitage to other sections. The Detail Shop allowed you to to customize your vehicle with visual details and styling parts. The workshop was the place where your check out your cars performance, test parts, swap old or broken parts with new parts from the inventory and read the cars statistics with the help of the Dyno2000 program.

Everything, as it was from the sunset files so the latest state of game...as said the files on gtr are originally from us.We also have the files that never went public including tracks, cars, server akde, dev tools...not gonna go into detail due to rules lol
Besides, the cars only work (I mean all cars that were added later)because we had to modify the databank so the older debug could accept those, tho we can change this these days.

Can't they do something like that to NFS World? There's no such thing as "they" in World at the moment. When there was, "they" successfully turned the game into a miserable cash cow.
