I'm not sure if this is a glitch or it's actually possible to drive on these, but I've seen these roads on various tracks, and when I'm actually racing them, there's no way to access the roads, and the track is always leading through this alternative route that goes around. I'll show you here: images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120318202911/nfs/en/images/d/df/National_Rail.jpg See the roundabout and the 2 roads splitting off of it? You can't access them at all, and the route the track actually follows isn't even on the map, well it is but it doesn't go all the way through. And also, look at this: images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120318202911/nfs/en/images/0/05/Market_Street.jpg There are 2 roads here that could be accessible, the turn around the end of the map has 2 roads that go all the way through but dead end by the hill section. Like it's been said, I think NFSU was supposed to have free roam, and the city was supposed to be much bigger. There are roads that might be accessible but they were never used in any tracks.

NFSU has all drivable roads in a free roam area, which is usually closed off in races. but only a pretty small amount of roads are actually present, and sometimes the map tends to be horribly incorrect too.

Wait, a free roam area? I remember seeing "Free run" in the race menu in NFSU1 but I don't remember any of the roads being accessible except the tracks themselves. And yeah, the map is pretty incorrect in some areas especially Market Street and Stadium. There are roads there that look accessible and alot longer than they are on the map, and some aren't even on the map but they still show up in races.

Free Run means that you can test drive in a track to learn route or find any shortcuts!

Yeah I know, I've done free runs before, but I don't remember being able to access the hidden roads, like the roundabouts and the market district shortcut. Anyone have a video of this?

I always wondered that those 2 roads in chinatown (those about you were talking about) if they will be ever the route of race. But instead they were always blocked and as i seen know on map they're not even shown there. Why they are blocked with these concrete barriers then as accessible road? (I know you said those were meant to be used, but why these barriers and not reset trigger)
